Sleepless Cycle
My body is tired
But my brain is wired
Lay back close my eyes
But when I do, it’s my demise
Every thought held at bay
With all the tasks of the day
Now rush in from every corner
Vying for a place and out of order
Breathe in deep let it go
Toss and turn. Wishing I’d snore
Look at the clock minutes pass like hours, while depression and anxiety my night devours
Finally sleep comes I didn’t even realize. Until a noise makes me pop open my eyes.
My heart starts racing, my breath is short. I listen carefully but hear no more.
And so it goes. It begins again, the sleepless cycle that never ends.
