Mr. Wiman

Here’s a poem I wrote for you

To tell of how you changed my view of life and men.

You came along at the most unexpected time. High school, I was a freshman

A guidance counselor? What’s that? Though you did wear many hats … counselor, coach, husband, friend.

No kids by birth, which is sad. so much to offer if you’d been a dad.

But WAIT. That’s not the end of the story. It’s only the beginning of your fatherly glory.

You had more kids than you could ever have birthed and showed them fatherly love that was beyond worth.

Not many men left in my life and  only a few that loved without expectation, complication or lies.

Compassionate, kind, forgiving. That’s been your standard of living

Showing more than some or most fathers do the way to be a man, it’s true.

On this day made for fathers.

Happy Father’s Day from one of your daughters.

Love,

M.S.
