Grief is Yours Alone
It’s all right to cry these tears to feel this pain to miss the years
To sit alone and wish you weren’t, to smile and try to hide the hurt
But I say don’t hide it, let it all out. Scream. Wail. Kick and shout.
Don’t hold back, don’t hold it in. Don’t hide your pain with a fake little grin.
Grief is yours, individually, no one can define it unless you let them
No matter the years that come and go The days pass and seem normal at times
And normal it is, I guess that’s true the new normal that eventually came to you
But it’s OK to be sad or glad as you remember your loved one and all you had.
A moment, a day, a week, or more. Then pick right back up living, like you did before.
