Beauty or beast?
My friend recently sent me that picture. They had waited a really long time for it to bloom, and then was disappointed in how it looked. It didn’t live up to antcipated expectation, or even what it should actually look like as designed by God.
You know some people think that naked cats those hairless cats. If you’ve never seen this you can Google it. That to me is ew… but some people think they’re beautiful.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have to behold the beauty of anything that can push through the difficulty, and absorb all the things that it needs to create a bloom.
Maybe your soil is littered with grief, trauma, loss, betrayal and the nutrients are sparse… that you have to fight through all the litter to absorb the minuscule nutrients available to bloom.
I gotta give credit and admire its beauty and diligence, perseverance and boldness.
It bloomed where it was planted. That’s not always true.
I don’t know what you chose beauty or beast at the first viewing of the flower but if you chose beast because you knew it was a marooned orchid…
If you had never seen an orchid before, would you still think it was ugly?
It’s so hard to push through and “bloom“ which, obviously the meaning of bloom varies individually.. Sometimes we don’t bloom, but we keep the leaves green set another season in the process of blooming. If there’s no foundation (the leaves), there’s nowhere for the blooms to grow.
